Abstract: The study of the water-soluble salts in the Villamayor sandstone in the Cueva de Salamanca and in the Plaza Mayor of Salamanca is carried out in situ. For this purpose, the samples are studied by X-ray diffraction (powder), for the qualitative analysis of the mineral phases; Ion Chromatography, for the quantitative analysis of the anions; Inductive Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES), for the quantitative analysis of the cations; and finally, the qualitative analysis of the carbonates has been carried out.
