Candidate requirements:

Young PhDs in Science (Chemistry, Biology, Environmental, Agricultural Engineering or similar) interested in applying for a Juan de la Cierva Training contract to develop their postdoctoral stage in the area of agricultural soil contamination and with appropriate merits for the call. (https://www.aei.gob.es/en/announcements/announcements-finder/ayudas-contratos-juan-cierva-2023). Candidates must have at least 5 publications in high impact journals, being first author in some of them and have carried out an international stay or have participated in an international project.

Our offer:

The selected candidate would join the Group of Soil and Water Contamination by Pesticides at the Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Salamanca (IRNASA-CSIC) for his/her active participation in national and international projects and research lines developed in the group at laboratory, greenhouse and field scale. High quality scientific training related to soil conservation and the dynamics and modelling of pesticide behaviour in soils under different agricultural management is offered.

The group is characterized by being very active and dynamic, having trained a good number of postdoctoral researchers under contract, Juan de la Cierva-training and incorporation and JAE-doctor CSIC. We have a high commitment and success rate in the continuity of the scientific career of all researchers in training (pre- and post-doctoral), who are now consolidated as researchers at CSIC and different Universities.

Interested individuals should send their CV to Mª Sonia Rodríguez Cruz, email: msonia.rodriguez@irnasa.csic.es and Jesús Mª Marín Benito, email: jesusm.marin@irnasa.csic.es

LABORATORY OF HELMINTH PARASITES OF ZOONOTIC IMPORTANCE

PIs: Javier González Miguel and Mar Siles Lucas.

SEE THE COMPLETE OFFER

Project and/or research line in which the candidate will work: The selected person would work within the research lines and projects of the ATENEA group, which are primarily focused on the study of the host/parasite interaction in fasciolosis at the molecular level.

Candidate requirements: We are looking for PhD holders (Thesis in 2022 or 2023) in Biological Sciences and related fields (mainly Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine, Pharmacy, etc.) with an interest in applying for a “Juan de la Cierva” contract to develop their postdoctoral stage in the field of molecular parasitology. Candidates should have at least 5 publications in high-impact journals, being the first author in some of them, and have completed at least a three-month stay at an international research centre.

What we offer: ATENEA is a young and active research group currently consisting of a Research Professor, a Tenured Scientist, a laboratory technician, and two PhD students. Our scientific approach is based on the creation of novel “in vitro” and “in vivo” models for the study of molecular interactions governing infections caused by zoonotic helminth parasites. In this way, we characterize potential candidates for the control of these diseases through the application of state-of-the-art proteomic and genomic techniques. We are committed to high-quality scientific production, collaboration with other national and international groups, the applicability and dissemination of our results to society, and constant support for the stabilization of our researchers and technical staff.

Interested individuals should send their CV to javier.gonzalez@irnasa.csic.es

REDOX BIOCHEMISTRY IN PLANTS AND CYANOBACTERIA GROUP

PI: Mónica Balsera.

SEE THE COMPLETE OFFER

Project and Research Focus: The candidate will investigate the biochemical and structural aspects of redox signaling, specifically focusing on thiols involved in photosynthesis. Throughout evolution, regulatory thiols in proteins have acquired an essential function for perceiving and adapting to environmental changes. Our group is dedicated to unraveling the structural-functional relationships within proteins and protein complexes central to redox regulation and signaling. Emphasizing dynamical aspects, we aim to comprehend the intricacies of these processes during shifts in the cellular environment.

Candidate Requirements:  The ideal candidate will possess experience in protein preparation and purification, biochemistry, biophysics, and/or structural biology. Familiarity with working on Cyanobacteria and Bioinformatics would be advantageous.

What we offer:

  • State-of-the-art facilities for protein biochemistry and structural biology.
  • An interactive research environment on molecular and redox aspects in plant biology.
  • Optimal training opportunities and professional development.
  • Open discussions and a collaborative atmosphere within the research group.
  • Possibilities for collaboration with other laboratories, fostering a multidisciplinary research approach.
  • Access to cutting-edge research tools and techniques.
  • Opportunities for attending conferences and workshops to enhance academic exposure.

Candidates should send their CV to monica.balsera@csic.es
